Unlocking the power of diet-microbiome therapies to help patients thrive
The Spencer Lab's mission is to develop a translational pipeline that enables discovery of novel diet and microbiome-based therapies to treat and cure human disease. Complementary priorities are:
1) Human intervention studies using novel tools to understand the microbiome in clinical settings
2) Mechanistic studies to test human-inspired hypothesis in pre-clinical models (in vitro and gnotobiotic/germ-free mouse models)
Using these synergistic approaches, we will better understand human disease and develop novel therapies for and help lead first-in-human clinical trials of Microbial Medicines
